David Schultz - D.C. Jail Program Facilitator
David Schultz first joined the Douglass Project as a Summer Fellow in 2021 while in the Georgetown University Pivot Program, and now works for the Douglass Project as a Program Facilitator in the DC Jail. While an intern at the Douglass Project in 2021, David helped the Douglass Project boost their social media presence, and he also conducted various research and communication projects, including projects related to funding through grants. Now, David facilitates the weekly visits in the DC Jail as part of the Douglass Project’s Prison Visitation Program.
After graduating from the Georgetown University Pivot Program in June 2021, David realized he wanted to focus his employment efforts on helping others like himself by working with a local non-profit organization. David currently works as a Communication and Programs Coordinator with Negotiation Works. Negotiation Works was a perfect fit for him, especially since he had come to appreciate the importance of learning new strategies for resolving conflicts and being one’s own advocate. Having been through the criminal justice system he knows firsthand the importance of humanity, especially to those citizens behind the walls of a prison.
In his free time, David enjoys swimming, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. His father and sister both currently reside in northern Virginia, and he enjoys spending time with his nieces and nephews.
